Bristolunderground Stage @ St Pauls 2010

This was not written by me , found it a long time ago and have had it stored away, Just found it so posting for you!

I’ll always remember buying an Easygroove tape from town in 1992 / ‘93, it was of a Fantasia New Year bash, I was listening to it on my walkman, the MC then got the DJ to stop the set and said something like “Are you lot feeling alive !!!” … “well we are gonna take you into the new year, It’s 12 o’Clock, so let’s party !!!” then Easygroove let the record go, it was one of mine, it then got the rewind, then played again !!! I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, listening to my tune that was absolutely buzzing up all the ravers at this massive event, I was in the middle of town with my walkman on, surrounded by a load of null faced shoppers, I just wanted to broadcast the fact to all these bored shoppers that my tune was getting played at such a big event at the turn of the new year !!!  Rich E

He used to play for Ektos, based in Swindon with Cool Cut dee, Melvin Gold, Martin P etc, he cut his first 12″ (white label) in Shelly suite in Swindon .

Roni had been into the rave scene from an early age. Initially influenced by Hip Hop, Soul and Jazz, Roni then started to get into hardcore as the parties all started happening. Roni was really interested in the music production side of things and teamed up with DJ Krust from Bristol to start producing. Roni released several tracks on ‘V’ Recordings which in 1993-94, were way ahead of their time. Roni eventually formed a group called “Full Cycle” which included himslef, DJ Krust, DJ Suv, DJ Die and MC Dynamite. Once “Full Cycle” had been formed, they began producing in the studio full time and it wasn’t long before they were signed up by Talking Loud and released a project called “Reprazent” which did exceptionally well nationwide. It looks like Roni Size and the “Full Cycle” crew are going to be a major force in Drum and Bass for many years to come.

Directly responsible for spawning Massive Attack and Soul II Soul, Bristol`s Wild Bunch DJ crew had an unmeasurable influence on a huge body of music that followed. With a reputation for staging the best parties of the era soundtracked by the seamless integration of a wide range of styles, from early hip hop, breaks and reggae to US soul, funk and R&B, the collective became a byword for all that was good in music. “I CAN remember leaving school one day and some guy had the window of his car down, playing the most diverse music I’d ever heard. I was like, ‘What is this?’ I caught a bus straight down to a shop called Revolver where this big, intimidating sort of guy worked behind the counter. I went up to him, going, ‘Serve me up some of this mad music I’ve just heard!’ I didn’t even know what it was called. I was going, ‘It’s got mad beats! Mad beats!’ The guy behind the counter’s yelling around the shop, ‘What can we sell this kid?’ and he served me up a couple of electro albums. “There were stickers all over, saying ‘THE WILD BUNCH’. I was like, ‘The Wild Bunch? Are they connected with this mad music? Who are The Wild Bunch?’ The bloke behind the counter turns round and goes, ‘I am The Wild Bunch.’”
